Adam Zimmer, the 38-year-old son of former Vikings coach Mike Zimmer, passed away

Adam Zimmer, the 38-year-old son of former Vikings coach Mike Zimmer, passed away, Adam Zimmer, the 38-year-old son of the late Vikings coach Mike Zimmer and a 16-year NFL assistant coach, passed away on Monday.

Adam’s sister Corri Zimmer White announced the news on Tuesday in an Instagram post. She kept the cause of the death of her brother a secret.

When his father was appointed head coach of the Vikings in 2014, Adam Zimmer joined the coaching staff. After six seasons as the linebackers coach, he was elevated to co-defensive coordinator in 2020. After the 2021 season, he was fired along with his father and the majority of the coaching staff.

As an assistant linebackers coach for the New Orleans Saints in 2006, Zimmer started his coaching career. From 2010 through 2012, he worked in a comparable capacity with the Kansas City Chiefs. Before coming with him to the Vikings, he worked alongside his father with the Cincinnati Bengals as an assistant defensive backs coach in 2013, during Mike Zimmer‘s final year there as the defensive coordinator.
