Bills GM Brandon Beane challenges Bengals: I don’t want to stink enough to acquire Ja’Marr Chase. The Bengals were dominant from the opening kickoff of Sunday’s AFC divisional round game against the Bills. The Bengals’ 27-10 victory not only advanced them to the AFC Championship Game for the second year in a row but also provided proof that they can compete with and even beat the league’s greatest teams.
QB Joe Burrow and other talents like WR Ja’Marr Chase have been instrumental in the Bengals’ recent success. They have a young team that has shown ready all season long, especially in the last few games, to avenge last year’s Super Bowl loss to the Rams.

They have won 10 straight games, and their last loss was on Halloween.
After the season, Bills GM Brandon Beane addressed the Bengals’ rise to prominence in the AFC and was somewhat critical of the team. He explained the disparity in salary cap space by saying that the younger couple can give players lower compensation due to the team’s inexperience.
“This is the first contract for these players. We are giving Stefon Diggs a very generous salary. There’s a large sum going to Josh Allen’s salary. So, cap restraints are a problem, but they’re a good team, “As Beane put it (via Sports Illustrated). “Some of their younger guys are promising. Through the draught and free agency, we intend to acquire as many talented players as possible. But, once more, our limiting circumstances are unique.”
Beane stated that he would not want to be in the position Cincinnati was in, which was to choose a great player early in the draught due to their team’s history of losing.
“I’d say their squad is excellent. They are currently benefiting from the lower salary that comes with a rookie quarterback. Without going into too much detail about their construction, I don’t want to stink so much that I have to get Ja’Marr Chase since they went through some tough times, “Beane had to say. “I’d do anything to have someone with his talent on my team. Unfortunately, that doesn’t come without some lean years.”
There is a “heck of a lot of talent” in the AFC Championship Game, but the Bills can only watch from home. In 2021, the Bengals selected Chase with the fifth overall pick.
He caught 87 passes for 1,046 yards this year (averaging 12 yards per reception) and scored nine times. The 22-year-old has scored 22 times in his career on 168 receptions for 2,501 yards. Two Pro Bowl appearances and the 2021 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award are already on his record.
