Gap has announced that it will discontinue Kanye West-designed merchandise effective immediately. In response to the rapper’s antisemitic remarks, Gap Inc. has pulled all Kanye West-designed Yeezy clothing brand products from its shelves and shut down its YeezyGap.com website, the business stated Tuesday.

The action hastens the expiration of a contract between the retailer and West, which was first revealed in September.

“Any kind of antisemitism, racism, or hatred is reprehensible and will not be accepted in accordance with our beliefs,” Gap stated in a statement Tuesday. It went on to say that it was working with organizations that fight hate and discrimination.

West, who is now known as Ye, could not be reached for comment right away. Last month, he attempted to dissolve the Gap relationship, which was first announced in June 2020, citing “significant noncompliance” with the rapper’s concept. Gap later stated that it was ending the collaboration, which featured a clothing line with Balenciaga.

“Thank you for demonstrating that #antisemitism is intolerable,” he said.

Gap’s news on Tuesday came only hours after Adidas announced the end of its long-standing business connection with Ye, which is thought to be worth billions of dollars.

“Adidas does not allow antisemitism or any other form of hate speech,” the shoemaker stated on Tuesday. “Ye’s recent words and actions are reprehensible, hostile, and dangerous, and they go against the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect, and justice.”
