Netflix nabs ex-Halo, destiny creative director to steer new recreation franchise

The co-author of the Halo and future franchises, Joseph Staten, is now at Netflix, wherein he’ll serve as creative director on a “brand-new AAA multiplatform recreation and unique IP,” he announced Monday. Staten announced his departure from Microsoft, wherein he served as senior innovative director and head of innovation on Halo Endless, earlier this month.

“In my paintings lifestyles, there’s not anything I love more than taking part with others to construct worlds filled with iconic characters, deep mysteries, and endless adventures,” Staten said in a tweet about his new role at Netflix. “So today, I’m pleased to announce that I’ve joined Netflix video games as an innovative Director for a logo-new AAA multiplatform recreation and original IP. allow’s cross!”

The hiring of Staten indicates key funding from Netflix for its games division, which final month announced it had sixteen games in improvement at its in-residence game studios, and 70 in development with third-birthday party partners. Netflix’s owned games studios include Nighttime Faculty Studio, Boss combat entertainment, next games, Moonloot, and Spry Fox.

“Our aim is to develop a large portfolio of video games — in extraordinary genres and formats — because we believe each person can discover pleasure in video games if they discover the one (or many!) this is right for them,” stated Leanne Loombe, vice president for outside video games at Netflix, in March.

Staten become an established staffer at Bungie and Microsoft, serving as a creative lead “chargeable for growing the tale foundations of the Halo universe,” and writing “multi-season, serial memories and expanded fiction” for Destiny as a co-innovative lead, in step with his LinkedIn profile.
