Candace Cameron Bure is working to reinstate Christ in holiday films. The king of holiday movies on the Hallmark Channel, Candace Cameron Bure, has moved on. The actress discussed quitting that cable channel to work with another, the religious Great American Family, in a newly released interview with the Wall Street Journal.

Bure told the outlet, “My heart wants to tell stories that have more significance, purpose, and depth behind them. I was aware that the creators of the Great American Family were devout Christians who cherished the Lord and desired to advance both family-friendly entertainment and faith-based programming.

As the channel’s chief creative officer, Cameron Bure—a self-described ardent Christian—produces religious films under the “Candace Cameron Bure Presents” label.

The new network is managed by Great American Media’s CEO, Bill Abbott. He oversaw Cameron Bure’s career there as chief executive of Crown Media Family Networks, the organization that owns the Hallmark Channel.

As the story points out, Cameron Bure defended an Oregon bakery’s contentious choice to not manufacture a wedding cake for a same-sex couple while she was co-hosting “The View” (she joined the show in 2015 and left in 2016).

It is unclear whether Great American Family will incorporate LGBTQ stories in their projects in light of Abbott’s refusal to run advertisements for the wedding planning service Zola while with Hallmark that featured two brides kissing.

According to Cameron Bure, “I think that Great American Family will retain conventional marriage at its center.” Abbott was being more cautious.

We are aware of the trends because it is unquestionably the year 2022, he added. No whiteboard indicates “Yes, this” or “No, we won’t go here.”
