Inzaghi anticipates Sanchez’s return as Inter confronts a critical December. With an ankle complaint, Sanchez missed Sunday’s 1-1 draw at second-placed Juventus after returning from Chile’s World Cup qualifiers. Sanchez previously played for Arsenal and Manchester United.

Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi is hopeful that Alexis Sanchez will be available for selection this week as the Serie A leader enters a stretch run of matches during which several vital players are injured.

With an ankle complaint, Sanchez missed Sunday’s 1-1 draw at second-placed Juventus after returning from Chile’s World Cup qualifiers. Sanchez previously played for Arsenal and Manchester United.

Inter will play twice weekly until the holiday season, beginning with Wednesday’s Champions League match at Benfica.

“We will evaluate Sanchez with the expectation that he will be fit to play in our upcoming match,” Inzaghi told reporters. “With Benfica and Napoli approaching, we are devoid of players.”

Benicio Pavard and Alessandro Bastoni were also absent from the Juventus excursion. “Every 48 hours, it’s not easy to take to the pitch, but I’m fortunate to have young men who are always willing to assist me and my staff,” Inzaghi continued.

“When we had to play three matches per week, we always rotated things; with this challenging schedule, we must work even harder.”
