48-megapixel ProRAW iPhone 14 Pro photos take three times more space than 12-megapixel shots. If you intend to make the most of the camera system in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max by utilizing the full 48-megapixel Main camera sensor, then you should be prepared for the photographs that you take to occupy a sizeable amount of storage space.

According to code that was discovered by MacRumors contributor Steve Moser within the iOS 16 release candidate that was released this week, 48-megapixel ProRAW photos taken on the Main camera will be approximately 75MB in size.

This makes them approximately three times larger than photos taken with the 12-megapixel sensor on an iPhone 13 Pro or an iPhone 14 Pro. In a short hands-on video that was uploaded to YouTube by Sara Dietschy after Apple’s “Far out” event, a photo that was taken with the 48MP sensor could be seen in the Photos app. The size of the photo was 80.4MB, and it had a resolution of 8,064 by 6,048.

When deciding how much storage space they want on their iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max, customers need to take into consideration the increased storage consumption that comes with taking photos with a resolution of 48 megapixels ProRAW. This is despite the fact that this increase is logically expected. Options for storage capacities of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB are available for purchase with the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The brand new 48-megapixel sensor is equipped with a “new machine learning model” that “delivers sharper photographs and less noise for incredible detail.” These features allow the sensor to shoot ProRAW photos with exceptional clarity and sharpness.

A brand new quad-pixel sensor is included in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. This sensor has the ability to combine four individual pixels into a single larger pixel, which results in photographs that are both clearer and more vibrant.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will commence on the next Friday, September 9, and the devices will start arriving at customers’ doorsteps on the following Friday, September 16.
