Linda Kolkena was a stunning 21-year-old when she first met Daniel Broderick III, a handsome 38-year-old lawyer.

The year was 1983, and Linda quit her air hostess job to work as a receptionist at Dan’s law office.

Betty Broderick had been Dan’s wife for 14 years when he met Linda Kolkena, and the pair had four children together.

Linda Kolkena was just 21 years old when she worked as a receptionist at Dan’s law firm in 1983. Betty began to doubt an affair after allegedly hearing Dan call Linda “beautiful” at a gathering where Betty was present.

Linda Kolkena: A Story Of Daniel Broderick's Second Wife

In Betty’s statement in the L.A. Times, Dan denied firing Linda when she requested an affair. A dreadful moment, Betty thought at the time. “Too silly to be real,” Betty wrote in her diary. That girl didn’t even come close to me.” She’s a slut with no education, background, or ability. I’m better-looking, brighter, and classier than her. “I’m sure he’ll come to terms with it.”

Linda kolkena and Dan were left alone in the office for the day on November 22, 1983, Dan’s 39th birthday. Betty had come in to surprise him. In Dan’s office, she found the ruins of a party. “I waited till like five,” she told the San Diego Reader. “They didn’t show up again. Suddenly there was my wedding china and crystal in the fridge, along with a tonne of expensive imported wine. It also has a stereo. And on [Linda’s] desk is a picture of him. Only, it was a photograph of him that was shot before our marriage.”

Dan eventually moved out of the house he shared with Betty and his children in February 1985. And he and Linda were married in June 1988.

Linda Kolkena and Dan Got Married In The Backyard Of Their House

San Diego’s Marston Hills neighborhood was the setting for their backyard wedding.

After Dan’s divorce from Betty was finalized, he married Linda kolkena.

Since they were concerned about Betty’s behavior during the marriage, Oxygen said that Dan would wear an anti-bulletproof vest at the ceremony.

In the end, Dan decided against wearing a bulletproof vest and hired a security guard.

Fortunately, the wedding went off without a hitch.

After their wedding, the honeymoon took place in the Caribbean.

One day, Betty shot her husband and wife to death while they were sleeping in their bed at home.

The couple was buried next to each other at the Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego.

Linda Kolkena and Dan Married for Less Than a Year Before They Got Murdered

Linda Kolkena and Daniel Broderick exchanged vows on April 22, 1989, at their Marston Hills, San Diego, home. A bulletproof jacket was proposed to him by Linda, who had become increasingly frightened about Betty’s actual threat. Despite Dan’s denials, he had guards hired to keep an eye on everything.

Linda Kolkena was concerned about Betty’s actions and sought the advice of a close friend on several occasions. Sharon Blanchet and her divorce counsel will prepare restrictive order against Betty.

However, Dan refused to allow Linda kolkena to file the paperwork on his behalf.

Betty routinely left rude messages on the Broderick answering machine and abused Linda Kolkena for more than five years Linda and Dan were together.

For each profane message she sends, Dan will deduct £76 ($100) from her monthly payout of £6,800 ($9,000).

In a legal notice to Betty on November 1, 1989, Dan threatened Betty with criminal contempt charges if she continued to send threatening and disrespectful texts to his and Linda’s house phone.

Betty Blamed Linda for Sending Her a Poison-Pen Letter

Betty and Linda’s relationship isn’t as clear-cut as the one between Betty and Dan, which was documented in court extensively. When Betty left voicemail messages for Linda on the couple’s answering machine, she cursed and referred to her by various offensive terms.

The photo of Dan and Linda with the words “Eat your heart out, bitch” emblazoned on it raised suspicions in Betty’s mind when the letter arrived in the mail.

According to Betty’s account, the wedding china was not returned, and Linda offered Betty anti-wrinkle creams.

They have always stood behind the pair, stating they could never be as bad as the nasty Betty claims. Linda and Dan’s friends have always stood by Linda and Dan.

Linda Died In Bed Beside Dan

Betty went to Dan and Linda’s residence on November 5, 1989, using a house key she had stolen from her daughter.

When she arrived in the bedroom with a newly purchased weapon, she opened fire “very fast, without hesitation.” Her five shots struck Linda twice, once in the neck and once in the chest, while hitting Dan in the back. Neither one survived.

When he died, Dan was 44 years old, and Linda was just 28.

As soon as the first bullet pierced her head, the second one entered her heart, and she died instantly.

At Dan and Linda’s funeral at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cathedral in San Diego, five days after the shooting, 600 people attended. However, Linda’s sister confessed in her eulogy at the funeral: “To us, she appears wonderful, but she wasn’t. “She had an issue with being on time.”

The Los Angeles Times reports that Linda and Dan were placed to rest in coffins resembling wooden ones, covered in white and red roses, respectively.

USA TV Series Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story

The second season of the Dirty John anthology series, “Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story,” unwinds the fundamental issues of “one of America’s messiest divorces.” Dan and Betty Broderick were a wealthy San Diego couple that divorced after a five-year procedure that was widely publicized.

However, Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story focuses on the lives of people besides Dan and Betty, whose characters are played by Christian Slater and Amanda Peet. This includes their four children, as well as Dan’s ex-girlfriend and second wife, Linda Kolkena, who Rachel Heller played.

In the end, Kolkata was a victim of the final chapter of the divorce. Months after their divorce was finalized, Betty entered Dan and Kolkena’s bedroom and shot them both to death. Since that April, the two had been married. At the time of this writing, Kolkena was 28.

Betty Broderick was sentenced to prison today for her crimes. An Emmy-nominated movie, three books, numerous documentaries, and now a season of Dirty John are all based on her experience.

Betty Broderick and Where She Is Now?

In Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story, Betty’s perspective on the events leading up to the night she shot and killed Dan and Linda Kolkena Broderick on November 5, 1989, takes center stage.

After their divorce, Betty claimed Dan was using his “legal power” to get her less of his seven-figure salary than he was entitled to during their bitter divorce battle in the late 1980s, according to the Los Angeles Times. Dan’s defense maintained that Betty had been psychologically abused by him, as well.

Betty said, “He seized my home, my children, and my money,” she said in a New York Times interview in 1991. The white-collar beating was how he did it. I could have shown them what he did and stopped him if he had hit me with a baseball bat.”

In the wake of this news, many people were shocked and split about Betty. Some saw her as a cold-blooded killer, while others questioned her claims of mental torture.

Betty was convicted of two charges of second-degree murder and sentenced to 32 years to life in jail.

Where is Betty Broderick now in 2022?

This month marks the 29th anniversary of Betty’s sentence. Betty, at 73 years old, is still alive and being held at the California Institution for Women in Chino, California, according to the latest reports from the prison’s administration. She has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Betty has reportedly been denied parole twice. She was denied parole in January 2010, and the second time was in September 2013. Her release was rejected in January 2017. In 2032, she’ll be 84 years old and up for parole again.

Deputy District Attorney Richard Sachs told the San Diego Union-Tribune in 2017 that Betty Broderick was “an unrepentant woman.” “She shows no regret and has no understanding of the crimes she committed… Essentially, she stated, “They drove me to do this.

Betty reportedly wrote a letter to the show’s producer, Katie Dunn, after the Betty episode of the docuseries Murder Made Me Famous aired in April 2017.

The alleged words “I have no one to speak for me” were supposedly written by Betty. An abusive pattern of coercive control continued throughout our marriage until I killed them. “This was domestic violence,” he said.

“I have met all criteria for parole, and my release date was 2010,” the letter continued. Until recently, I was a political prisoner, but now I am just that. To reject my release, they have no justification for doing so.”

Betty Broderick stated in her memoir, Betty Broderick: Telling on Myself, that she and Dan’s children, Kimberly, Kathy Lee, Dan Jr., and Rhett, are still alive and well. They testified at Betty’s parole hearing in 2010. There was a rift among the siblings at the time over whether or not she should be allowed to roam freely.

She persuaded the parole board that “she should be free to live her latter years outside prison walls,” as Kathy Lee put it. Her son Dan Jr., on the other hand, claimed that his mother was “hooked up on defending what she did.

He said, “I know in my heart that my mother is a good person.” “However, sometimes, along the road, she got disoriented. An unintentional release of an individual into the general populace can have serious consequences.”

A Friend Of Daniel Broderick Speaks About The Murder

Betty Broderick shot and killed her ex-husband, Dan Broderick, and his new wife, Linda Kolkata, in November 1989, barely six months after they had married.

As a friend of Dan Broderick, Spencer Busby expressed his amazement at the news of the murders, and friends had cautioned Dan to ‘be careful with his new relationship with Betty.

‘I was stunned.’ Spencer Busby, an attorney and close friend of Dan and Linda who participated in Oxygen’s program, said, ‘I felt very heartbroken for Linda kolkena,’ he told Fox News.

This young woman had the rest of her life ahead of her. However, she was caught in the crossfire and had no choice but to suffer the consequences. ‘You don’t ever want to imagine someone could be so enraged,’ he said.

A successful medical-malpractice law firm was built by Dan, who married Betty in 1969 after graduating from Cornell Medical School and Harvard Law School.

On the other hand, Betty grew angry as Dan sought his stardom, ignoring her and their children.

Their union deteriorated over time. Some people thought Linda Kolkena resembled Betty’s younger self when she was first hired as Dan’s legal assistant in 1983.

Dan filed for divorce in 1985 and married Linda Kolkena in 1989, but tensions between the couple and Betty only grew after the marriage.

According to Busby, Dan was ready to go on with his life.

It was apparent when he married Linda that he desired a fresh start in his life. In addition, he was conflicted. For the past 16 or so years, he had been married to Betty. And it wasn’t an impulsive decision to move forward with his life. He cherished his family. For his children’s sake, however, he was eager to help. And things with Betty just weren’t improving,’ he added.

The recently divorced actor admitted that he understands how Betty must have felt.

Because that kind of behavior is unacceptable,’ he retorted. ‘You can’t expect to talk to someone with a gun in their house,’ he said.

Betty crept into Dan’s San Diego, California, home on November 5, 1989, armed with a Smith & Wesson pistol and their daughter’s house key.

While they were both sleeping in their beds, she shot Linda Kolkena (then 28) in the head and chest as well as Dan (then 44).

Busby claimed that Dan fell in love with Linda Kolkena when he met her.

The bond between Busby and the couple is one of love, according to Busby.

According to him, they never brought up Betty because they were humiliated by their confrontation with her.

The problem with Betty refusing to let go of Dan had him scrambling for solutions.

‘As a lawyer, he was taught to rely on the courts to resolve the matter.’ However, it was a battle. Angry texts with swear words were left for the youngsters to hear. She may have been hoping for the sake of her children that she would move on, as well,’ the man said.

When Betty committed the crime, she was 41 years old.

Even after their divorce, she said she was subjected to years of Dan’s physical and emotional abuse, even though she never refused to participate in the killings.

As of 2017, she is not eligible for parole until she is 84 years old — in 2032.

‘The youngsters are the ones who have suffered the most in this incident. They had to deal with the loss of both of their parents simultaneously. That’s a terrible thing to hear. There is a slew of other possibilities here. As Busby put it, “There are no winners here.”

The narrative of Dan Broderick, Linda Kolkena, and Linda Kolkena is unquestionably terrible and reaches the national level. But no one was happy in this whole narrative, and the kids were the ones who suffered the most.
