OnePlus, a subsidiary of OPPO, is the latest brand under the OPPO umbrella to benefit from the strategic partnership with Sony’s LYTIA Mobile Image Sensor Brand. OPPO’s alliance with Sony was unveiled in September, and it was revealed that future flagship phones from the company would incorporate dual-layer stacked Sony LYTIA sensors. Additionally, vivo, another brand within the group, has confirmed that its upcoming vivo X100 series will feature a customized version of the LYT800 sensor. However, the OnePlus 12 will set itself apart with a superior sensor.
In a significant move earlier in June, Sony expanded its LYTIA image sensor lineup by introducing new 50-megapixel products. The OnePlus 12 is anticipated to sport a powerful 50MP IMX966 primary camera. This sensor is a 1/1.4 inch sensor featuring Sony’s advanced 2-layer transistor pixel technology, akin to the ExmorT IMX 888 stacked CMOS sensor that made its debut on the Xperia 1 V earlier this year. The stacked pixel technology significantly enhances light capture capabilities, promising superior low-light photography performance on the OnePlus 12, ensuring users can expect remarkable improvements in night-time shots and beyond.
