A driver who attempted to approach the property housing China‘s highest leadership was violently taken out of sight, according to a video that was leaked.
The Zhongnanhai compound in Beijing, the country’s capital, is sometimes referred to as China’s political nerve center and comparable to the US White House. Crucial leadership choices are taken at Zhongnanhai, the home of China’s top leadership.
The event happened last week in Beijing, following the start of China’s annual large political gathering known as “Two Sessions” (or “Lianghui”). The two sessions of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the National People’s Congress (NPC) are important forums for discussing state affairs, the allocation of funds, and economic policies for the upcoming five-year cycle.
