Jeff Bridges Opens Up About Working with a Trainer to Walk His Daughter, Jeff Bridges is speaking out about a significant milestone. The 72-year-old actor recently spoke with The Independent about the health issues he experienced before walking his daughter, Hayley Roselouise Bridges, down the aisle during her wedding in August 2021.

Bridges received a non-Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis in October 2020 and contacted COVID-19 in January 2021. Later that year, he reported that his cancer was in remission.

“The initial target was how long can I stand up,” he told The Independent before his daughter’s wedding. He could only stand for 45 seconds at the time, according to the Oscar winner. He then worked with a trainer to increase his step count and stabilize his breathing.

Working with a trainer every day, he told the publication, just encouraged him to work more.

According to Bridges, “Finally, one day I said to myself, ‘You know, maybe I can do it.’ And it turns out I got to do the wedding dance as well as escort her down the aisle. That was fantastic.”Hayley, his daughter, married Justin Shane, her longtime love, in Kestrel Park in Santa Ynez, California.

Bridges delivered a welcome speech that “touched on a trait of Justin’s that I also mentioned in my vows, which is that kids and dogs love him,” she told Brides, adding, “I believe this to be an example of his wonderful energy.”

Bridges told PEOPLE in May 2022 that he spent nearly five months in the hospital when his health was at its worst.

“I didn’t have any defenses. Chemo does exactly that: it depletes your immune system. I had nothing to fight against it “He stated. “COVID made my cancer look insignificant.”

He stated that he couldn’t roll over in bed without calling the nurse for oxygen assistance. “I was on the verge of death. ‘Jeff, you have to fight,’ the doctors kept urging me. You’re not battling.’ I was ready to give up. I was prepared to leave. I was playing with my own mortality “He stated.
